Nuvogen is an engineering company before it is anything else. The expectations below hold across the work, and they are the basis on which people are assessed.
Technical depth
The work rewards understanding a problem properly before acting on it. People who prefer to reach for the nearest available solution tend to find it a difficult place to work.
Ownership and autonomy
People are given real decisions and are accountable for the outcomes. The company relies on judgment rather than supervision, which means independence and responsibility arrive together.
Intellectual honesty
Clear reasoning, evidence, and constructive disagreement are expected. Changing position when the facts require it is treated as competence rather than inconsistency.
Standards
Quality is judged on clarity, reliability, and how the work behaves once it leaves the person who wrote it. Work that is merely finished is not the same as work that is right.
Long-term thinking
Decisions are made for the system as it will be rather than only as it is. Choices that are convenient now and expensive later are usually rejected.
Continued learning
The areas Nuvogen works in change quickly. Time spent understanding something properly is not treated as time taken away from the work.
Environment
The working environment.
Nuvogen is early in its development, and the way it works reflects that. Responsibilities are broad, the distance between deciding and doing is short, and little sits between a person and the results of their own work.
This suits people who want scope and are comfortable working without a great deal of structure around them. It suits others less well, and the company would rather say so than discover it later.
